Extreme sports and activities

Extreme sports and activities are an exciting, exhilarating and adrenaline fuelled way to spend your free time. Extreme sports and activities are basically any sport where you are either in danger or the risks of injury are quite high. One of the earliest extreme sports is surfing, but there are other extreme sports and activities including Skateboarding, rollerblading, base jumping, ice climbing, BMX, moto-x (motor cross), trial biking, snowboarding, wind surfing and extreme ironing just to name a few.

A lot of extreme sports are very solitary and are more about man versus nature than being a competitive sport, but when they do compete against others there are many variables that can’t be controlled as in standard sports. For instance snowfall can’t be controlled for snowboarders and wave size/speed can’t be controlled for surfers.

Although some of the sports are exceedingly dangerous, like base jumping, there aren’t a massive amount of fatalities, and the ones there are usually stem from stupidity or ill preparation. Even the name seems to state a blatant disregard to safety this is in fact the opposite of the truth. There is a lot of specialist safety equipment for the adrenaline junkie and it is a good idea to use it, as it really does save lives.
